France - Hauteford to Chauvigny

Montmorillon's old town is called Cite de L'Ecrite. The high point is a small round building topped with a statue of the Virgin Mary in the background here. It was built on the feudal mound which was the site of the 11th century fortress. The narrow streets and old architecture makes for an interesting walk up to the statue.
